Most of us spend our days inside classrooms and offices, where screens and artificial lights illuminate our faces. We don’t leave our desks unless we have to go outside to supervise an activity or move from one place to another. Americans are often stressed out and anxious, and teachers are especially prone to experiencing these issues.
Getting outside can help alleviate some of the stress and anxiety people experience. It’s also beneficial to be outside to maintain a healthy body and mind. As the days get longer, plenty will get you out in The Woodlands!
Try one of these opportunities to get outside, have fun, and increase your Vitamin D!
Dine Outdoors
If you have the choice to eat outside, do it! The Woodlands has a variety of outdoor spaces perfect for picnics! Visit Waterway Square, Hughes Landing, Northshore Park, or Creekside Village Green Park.
Join a Walking Book Club
The South Regional Library's Walking Book Club is a fun way to exercise and socialize. The group walks the Waterway together. After the meeting, the library offers light snacks and beverages. Their next read is Animal Farm by George Orwell.
Go Birding
Every year, various groups from across Texas compete in the Great Texas Birding Classic. The tournament’s contestants aim to identify and count the most common birds during a specific period. The event is held at the George Mitchell Nature Preserve in The Woodlands. The public is invited to watch for birds from 7am to 8pm.
Take a Swan Ride
Not a real swan, but a swan pedal boat ride! Enjoy a fun evening on The Woodlands Waterway as you explore the area's sights and sounds in the evening. The rides start at dusk from the Riva Row Boat House. Swan boats are limited to four passengers, and adults must be present.
Attend Outdoor Music Events
There are several opportunities to enjoy some live music outdoors throughout the spring! Live on the Lawn give you a weekly option to enjoy Sarah Kelly Music School performances on Friday nights at Central Park in Market Street. Waterway Nights will present local and regional talent at the beautiful Waterway Square in The Woodlands Town Center from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on select spring days.
